A combination of factors are influencing the environment in Jersey, this prompts questions about how to best promote, understand, enjoy, protect and enhance special areas in Jersey, whilst promoting social and economic wellbeing. One tried and tested approach is the use of a National Park designation, recognising that National Parks are areas of special quality and national significance in which people live and work.
The Planning and Environment Minster has tabled the concept of creating Jersey’s first National Park in the St Ouens Bay area, following very strong support expressed in the recent Island Plan green paper consultation. The States are now inviting Islanders to take part in a consultation that will shape the proposal for inclusion in the new Island Plan.
